Top Managed IT Services in Atlanta-min

MANAGED SERVICES | 5 MIN READ

In metro-Atlanta, there seems to be an infinite amount of IT service providers. Once you've come to the decision that it's time to get your business' network protected, you may feel a bit overwhelmed with your options.

Unfortunately, this typically results with just picking the top three options that come up on Google or the one you heard about on the radio. Sometimes, it comes down to the one you heard about from a friend.

Even though those may produce a quality provider, it's possible you're leaving one out of the mix that's even better. The one that could potentially be the best fit for your company.

Fortunately, we're here to provide you with an in-depth review of the best managed service providers in Atlanta, GA. By the end of this review, you'll have a better idea of who to turn to when you need a quote.

About the Author

SOS Headquarters in Duluth-min

Standard Office Systems is a provider of managed services and has been providing businesses with their office technology needs for over 50 years.

When we're approached by prospective clients, we frequently get asked the question:

"Who do you recommend as another quality provider in Atlanta?"

Admittedly, we want potential clients to work with us, but since we're in the business of helping companies, first, we decided last year to begin an annual list of the top managed IT services companies in Atlanta.

To avoid bias, we have omitted our company from consideration on this list, but we received such positive feedback from our 2018 list that we felt it made since to continue our reviews into 2019. After all, there's a lot that's changed in a year.

The Selection Criteria

You might be wondering why we think it's a good idea to share a list of our competitors to prospective clients. I can understand the skepticism, but we are in the business of helping companies with their business goals through office technology.

After all, it's in our web address.

Regarding our criteria: there are over 400 IT service providers in the Atlanta area in some form! Everything from major providers with multiple branches to the ponytail guy in his parent's basement are represented in that number.

But as it becomes more and more simplistic to create a professional website, how do you know the phonies from the real deals? What does it take to make the 2019 Top Managed IT Services List?

Years of Operation:

The goal of our list is to find companies you can trust for your IT needs. More times than not, trusted brands are companies who have been around for a while. As a requirement, companies who have not been in business for 10 years or more were not considered.

IT support isn't a new idea, but since personal computers didn't become affordable until the early 90's, we can't exactly say that it's old either. Ten years in the IT world is a lifetime of transformative development.

Customer Reviews:

You can't always trust an online review, but as it turns out, there are many IT companies who don't have hardly any reviews.

We made a threshold in this year's list that you have to have at least ten (10) online Google business reviews in order to be considered.

But we doubled-down and said that a company must receive a rating of four-stars are higher in order to make the list.

If you're serious about entrusting your network to another company, though, make sure you request testimonials.

If you really want to see how good they are, ask them to provide you with a reference list where you get to choose the three companies you are going to call (rather than them give you a pre-populated shortlist of their three biggest promoters).

You may find a friend on that list whose opinion you really value!

Competitive Pricing:

This is a challenging category because there are many break-fix IT service operations out there that can offer your company a seemingly cheap alternative than 24/7 protection. But like healthcare, it's extremely expensive to fix a problem when you aren't insured, and your network always gets sick at the worst time.

As a result, break-fix companies were not considered in our list unless they also offer a full managed services offering.

It feels good to get the lowest price, but a recent FBI report found that nearly 4,000 businesses experience a cyber security breach every single day, and unfortunately, 60% of small businesses who experience such a breach go out of business within 6 months after.

Competitive pricing to us doesn't simply mean the cheapest. It means the most reasonable prices for the type of service provided, at the quality expected.

New call-to-action

High Level of Support:

If you've ever experienced managed services before, it's likely you've called "their" help desk only to discover later that their 24/7 service is actually someone else's service.

That's right, it's far too often that IT companies outsource their help desk/Tier I support. This means that when you need to speak with a higher level support person, they aren't necessarily in the same building.

Sometimes outsourced help desks are located overseas with high turnover rates. This means your company data may be visible to people who don't even live in the same country as you.

Employee Reviews:

This is a new criteria added to our list this year. Why?

Because happy employees typically mean the inner workings of the company are going well, and you really start to find out about a company when people from the inside part ways and leave a review.

The last thing you need is a disgruntled employee who does something malicious in an effort to get back at his/her employer right before he/she quits.

That's why a company must posses a Glassdoor review of 3 or better in order to make our list (and sadly, it eliminated some we were considering).

Honorable Mention

It isn't imperative that your IT provider have a headquarters in your home city, but it is critical that they at least have a branch within a reasonable driving distance.

With that being said, there is peace of mind knowing that you can walk over to your IT service provider's main office and speak directly with their president if needed.

You aren't going to receive the same kind of treatment if your service comes from a mega-corporation with branches throughout the country and a headquarters located in another state.

Just something to consider.
