Lucerne, 20th February 2017 – Canon Europe, leader in imaging solutions, is at Hunkeler Innovationdays 2017 (Messe Lucerne, 20-23 February) to showcase the broad range of high-quality print applications enabled by recent Canon innovations across inkjet and toner technologies.

Canon is presenting three of its digital production presses, the highlight being the first showing of the new Océ ProStream continuous feed colour inkjet press. Designed to offer highest quality and extended media choice for high-volume commercial print work, the ProStream will print roll-to-roll at Hunkeler Innovationdays, producing a range of material including direct mail, books, catalogues, and brochures.

Alongside the new ProStream, Canon will also demonstrate the capabilities of its flagship sheetfed devices – the imagePRESS C10000VP toner press and the Océ VarioPrint i300 inkjet press. Together, the three presses will show visiting print service providers the extended spectrum of output quality and the vibrant colour reproduction that can now be achieved with digital print across both toner and inkjet technologies, even at very high production volumes, and on standard substrates.

All three presses will be in live production on the Canon stand throughout the event, producing a range of finished commercial print applications, many illustrating the potential for sophisticated personalisation and inclusion of variable content.

Peter Wolff, Senior Director Customer Groups Commercial Printer and Production CRD, Canon Europe, comments: “At Canon, our goal is to inspire our commercial print customers to explore new avenues of growth for their businesses. We want to help them to see their potential to create value for their customers in fresh ways, through inventive business models and innovation.”

“Through our committed investment in continuous product development, we have arrived at a point where our customers, regardless of their business focus, should now feel confident to embrace the full variable data potential of digital print, without quality, productivity or media constraints. We’re here at Hunkeler Innovationdays 2017 to inspire printers to unleash the capabilities of digital print to meet their customers’ commercial objectives.”

Demonstrating Canon’s commitment to building complete end-to-end solutions using best-of breed Canon and third-party technologies, the three production systems will be centrally driven by the Océ PRISMA suite.

Many of the print applications produced live in Lucerne will be finished on-site on a variety of equipment from event host Hunkeler and other Canon partners including Müller Martini. Promotional applications and books printed on the VarioPrint i300 will be finished inline or feed post processing solutions highlighted at the event. The imagePRESS C10000VP will also produce finished brochures and catalogues inline using the Plockmatic BLM50 production bookletmaker.

Alongside the live production workflows on the Canon stand, pre-printed output from the Océ ColorStream 6000 Chroma and Océ ImageStream continuous feed inkjet presses will be finished live on the Hunkeler SD7-1 book block solution, DP8 direct mail line, PoPP8 roll-to-cut line and PoPP7 newspaper line. Further book finishing processes will be demonstrated on the Müller Martini Presto II digital saddle stitcher and on the Meccanotecnica Universal Sewing Machine.
